Microsoft rejects bid to buy TikTok

On Sunday night, the Chinese owner of the now-popular TikTok app rejected Microsoft’s bid to take control of TikTok’s US operations, Microsoft said Sunday night. In August, President Donald Trump issued a direct order to TikTok owner Byte Dance to sell TikTok’s US operation within 90 days, citing national security concerns.

“ByteDance has informed Microsoft that it will not sell TikTok’s US operation. “We strongly believe that our request is good for TikTok users while protecting against national security issues.” Oracle, founded by businessman Larry Ellison, has won a bid to compete with Microsoft.
